Dana Goolsby


Born and raised in Grapeland, Texas, Goolsby has worked in Palestine since 2003, and lived here since 2009. Since moving to Palestine, she has been an active member of the community through service with local nonprofits, boards, committees, and her work with My East Texas. Goolsby created MYETX in 2011 to promote East Texas history, heritage, and tourism. Since that time, MYETX has branched out into marketing and advertising, with a special focus on social media. 

Goolsby has served on the City of Palestine's Tourism Advisory Board, Main Street Committees, and Keep Palestine Beautiful. She is also a member of Friends of Caddo Mounds State Historic Site, and part of the group who built the Caddo Grass House in 2016, with Caddo Elder Phil Cross. 

Today, Goolsby serves her community as an elected official. She is the District 5 representative for the the City of Palestine.

While most of her time is spent promoting East Texas, and working with the Palestine City Council, she is also a writer and photographer. Her photography has been featured across social media platforms including Texas Monthly, Texas Tourism, Texas Highways, Instagram Texas, and many others. Her work has been published in in newspapers, books, and magazines across Texas. Her most recent articles  appeared in Texas Highways Magazine. She has also written numerous skits for various occasions, and in 2018, she completed a two-act play, which was produced at the Historic Texas Theatre in Palestine in May 2018. Proceeds were donated to the Historic Texas Theatre- the crown jewel of Downtown Palestine.
